Workshop Manager (Joinery)

We are currently recruiting for a Workshop Manager for our client who specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery and fitted furniture within the specialist Hotel & Leisure and Prime Residential fit out sectors.
As a Production Manager you will be responsible for managing projects within the production facility and ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency.

The company has a well-established client base and consistent work across the London and South East area.
They work with prestigious main contractors, architects, and designers on a variety of work across different sectors including Hotel and Leisure & High End Residential amongst other areas.
Responsibilities of the position:
• Ensure that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Ensure targets are met for on-time delivery and that deliveries are made in full wherever possible.
• Report into Director level on progress.
• Utilise joinery production background and to ensure quality and efficiency is maintained
• Work with the production team to develop and implement production schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
• Monitor and analyse production data to identify areas for improvement.
• Manage inventory levels to ensure that raw materials and finished products are available when needed.
• Implement and maintain a system of preventative maintenance for all machinery to ensure production down time is kept to a minimum.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant joinery production, environmental and health and safety regulations.
• Ensure that all H&S policies are upheld, and that staff are engaged in safe working practices.
• Manage and motivate a team, providing guidance and support as needed

Key performance metrics:
• Health and safety, a low level of accidents and near misses is required with a constant eye upholding current policies and working with the health and safety manager to develop and implement new policies to improve the safe working environment.
• Housekeeping, ensuring the clean down time at the end of shifts, all waste from the daily production should be removed floors cleared and stock organised.

The Job:

Our client is a well established and growing refurbishment and build contractor in the commercial construction sector based in the Buckinghamshire area and requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee contracts for small to medium sized traditional and design & build projects (Up to £5m) within London and South East area.

The company work on a variety of projects including; Commercial Offices, Education, Healthcare, Retail & Leisure.

The Role overview:

Manage the commercial function of multiple projects.
Help grow and develop the relationship with existing key clients through successful projects in collaboration with the senior management team.
Work with the senior management team to assist with all matters relating to estimating, tendering and cost management of potential future projects.
Be responsible for assisting all relevant parties involved in a contract so that they all understand the terms, particularly the contract's financial aspects.




Responsibilities:

Participate in client meetings for project progress, specifications, and program deliverables.
Continuously enhance business relationships with key clients.
Oversee daily commercial operations for assigned projects within the company.
Evaluate company/project risks
Manage the direct commercial relationship with key clients
Plan and oversee the QS commercial aspects of tender submissions
Supervise any Quantity Surveyor (QS) resources assigned to projects to ensure compliance, maximize project profitability, minimize risks, achieve high commercial management standards, enhance performance, and expedite the project final account.
Develop the supply base to achieve the best value.
Ensure full compliance with commercial procedures of both Our client and the end user.
Provide timely and accurate cost advice to clients, including forecasted final costs in every valuation.
Formulate and implement interventions to consistently secure tenders and new business opportunities
Offer coaching to employees on best practices for managing contract issues and handling daily tasks.
Resolve issues between commercial and operations teams.
Issue any contractual notices as required, in collaboration with the Operational team.
Issue payment notices to the supply chain within the terms of the agreement.
The Candidate:

Have a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
Have a well-rounded and confident understanding of the Traditional Construction, Refurbishment and Design And Build sector
