About the Client:
As a Quantity Surveyor within our Mechanical contracting company, you will play a crucial role in managing the costs and ensuring the financial success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical installations.
- Conduct site visits and gather relevant data to assess project requirements and potential cost implications.
- Utilize cost estimation software and databases to enhance accuracy and efficiency in estimating processes.
Budget Management:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
- Monitor project expenditure against budgets, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or potential cost overruns.
- Collaborate with project teams to implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards.
Procurement and Contract Management:
- Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to secure competitive prices and favorable contract terms.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring clarity on scope, deliverables, and pricing.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations throughout project duration.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
- Communicate financial information to project stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, trends, and potential risks.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions to address budgetary deviations and optimize project profitability.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the mechanical contracting industry.
- Proficiency in cost estimation techniques, including the use of software tools such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and relevant legislation.
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and precision in financial calculations and reporting.
