Full job description: Quantity Surveyor/Estimator Dual Role (Landscaping)

A New opportunity has become available for a dual role within a Hard & Soft Landscaping company in the estimating department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, tenacious person with a good eye for detail.

The applicant will be primarily working in the West Midlands on a day to day basis but occasional travel to different sites nationally are also part of this exciting role. Potential candidates must be willing to learn and change different processes as the company grows and develops.

Purpose of the job:

Researching and costing Fencing & Landscaping jobs to win contracts and liaising with the management team to ensure we continue to be competitive in the market whilst maintaining a good profit margin and high safety standards. After winning contracts the estimator is also expected to follow the handover process ensure the orders are raised and communicated clearly to the rest of the contracting team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

· Carrying out admin tasks such as monitoring emails, and updating tender progress trackers.

· Finding out the clients exact requirements

· Researching materials, equipment and labour costs as they change throughout the year.

· Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.

· Assessing the levels of risk on a project and conducting site visits to determine level of difficulty which would be reflected in the quotation.

· Analysing company data and prices to monitor trends in success/loss rates of tenders to inform pricing.

· Preparing and submitting quotations for work including revisions.

· Helping Contract Mangers monitor the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with quotations.

· Attend and highlight issues from pre start meetings with clients

· Check orders when received and create a handover package for contracts including payment schedule.

· Liaise with accounts team to ensure each contract is able to be invoiced accurately.

Applicant must be used to working with Microsoft Excel and have good attention to detail.

Construction industry knowledge is beneficial due to the materials and tasks being quoted for.
