Job Description: Structural Steel Estimator
Reporting To: Managing Director/Contracts Manager
Department: Office/Field based
Location: Walkden
Salary: D.O.E
Hours of Work: 07.30 to 16.00
Due to company growth, our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Steel Estimator to join their current estimating team. This position will require you to receive enquiries, visit sites, produce estimates and convert orders into manufacturing packages. Effectively communicate all aspects of the package to the Workshop Supervisor/Contracts Manager. Continue to build professional relationships with key customers and proactively identify potential opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Structural Steel Experience Essential
- Ability to visit client’s site and identify Client’s needs.
- Ability to organise work load priorities on your own initiative.
- Identify most effective process for items to be fabricated
- Put times to processes using practical knowledge.
- Establish supply chain costs to be included in tenders.
- Generate quotations and send to clients.
- Negotiate and complete tenders to sales.
- Provide a timely response and an exceptional level of service to all enquiries.
- Build relationships with clients and recognise new business opportunities.
- Communicate with clients and projects teams.
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Minimum of three years Structural Steel estimating experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, and extract price materials.
- Expert knowledge of the steel fabrication sector and the industries that feed into it.
- Established contacts and prospects relevant to the steel fabrication sector.
- Committed and Proactive.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High level sales experience in a client facing environment.
- IT Skills including Microsoft Packages.
- Excellent financial, numerical skills and good commercial awareness
- Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management and planning skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to multi-task.
