We have a role available for an experienced Contracts Manager with vast knowledge within the Joinery & Carpentry markets.
The Contracts Manager will be reporting directly to the Head of Projects & will provide executive-level leadership with full accountability for overseeing carpentry and joinery fit-out projects in central London and the Southeast.
About the Role:
- Coordinate between the MD / Contracts Management team and set out a team to manage the smooth flow of the project manufacturing process.
- Review project details and carry out brief for the setting out team (Project Kick Off)
- Reviewing/managing and overseeing the Project Drawings Schedule.
- Review and management of the Shop drawings preparation and submittal process as well as guide the setting out on joinery detailing.
- Managing the flow of information from sites/clients to setting out, like material submittal approvals, site surveys, installation planning & coordination.
- Lead and manage coordination with the production department and other areas of the company to ensure a smooth flow of jobs, delivery, and completion.
- Checking materials allowed details and obtaining clearance for variations.
- Review specifications of the project and obtain clearance for discrepancies between specs and estimated details.
- Overseeing identification of project material requirements.
- Ensure that material requisitions are placed in advance so that all materials arrive before production commences.
- Overseeing the sourcing of hardware accessories and optimizing where possible
- Overseeing the timely project drawings approval process.
- Providing guidance and managing the issuance to the factory of cutting lists and loading lines.
- Overseeing follow-up and follow-through of project-related procurement.
About the Candidate:
- Joinery manufacturing experience, as a Contracts manager capable of effectively managing projects from award of project and through the different stages of implementation to handover.
- Suitable experience and understanding of all aspects of the joinery fabrication process, from site survey to working with a setting out team on preparation of fabrication shop drawings and cutting lists, through to checking of material take-offs and ordering, etc.
- Sound knowledge of fabrication procedures and a wide understanding of joinery materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, and hardware are vital.
- Very strong technical and execution capabilities with the ability to solve technical problems and details between different types of materials such as wood, glass, fabrics, metals, laminates, etc.
- Would oversee communication with clients or client reps and manage their quality and delivery expectations in a satisfactory manner.
- Will have to be an individual with a high responsibility level, takes ownership of matters, has good planning & multitasking experience, effective communicator, and basically a flexible individual who can make decisions and make things happen.
- Would be able to overlook standard detailing practice where possible, motivate his /her setting out and site teams as well as guide the daily workflow in accordance with the priorities, handover dates, and site status.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ideally have worked on Residential Apartment block projects.
- CSCS Black/Gold
- SMSTS
- Fire door installation/inspection experience.
