Role Purpose 

Our client is a leading fire protection business who provide high-quality passive fire protection solutions within the construction industry. In this safety-critical environment quality is of the utmost importance, they will not forfeit safety or quality to reduce cost. This ethos has proved highly successful and they have been involved in some of the most prestigious projects across the UK.  

As an ambitious and growing organisation, they are currently seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager to drive growth of the business in line with the strategy of the wider group. 

You will report into the Business Development Director with weekly and monthly reports against KPIs. You will be responsible targeting new and existing clients (main contractors) with a view to growing the business and leveraging the excellent customer base across our strongholds in the Northeast and the Southeast. 

Key Responsibilities and Activities: 

•    New business development in line with growth strategy and revenue targets 

•    Build pipeline of opportunities within key market sectors 

•    Engagement key decision makers within main contractor organisations – Project Directors, Project Managers, Commercial Directors and Quantity Surveyors  

•    Engagement with key supply chain and procurement people with a view to getting on supply chain for new clients 

•    Commercial management of new quotes and robust handover into operations department 

•    Ongoing client relationship / account management 

•    Build and maintain relationships with other sector stakeholders – suppliers, consultants, other trades 

•    Gain knowledge and intel on upcoming opportunities for live construction projects in key geographical areas

•    Work closely with the operations department to develop the sales offering from both a commercial and technical perspective and manage the transition of sales into the business

•    Stay current with competitor trends and new technology and report back to the business

•    Creating and managing sales forecasts and actively working towards reaching them 

•    Attend industry networking events 

•    Log activity through CRM system 

•    Pipeline reporting to Board 

Person Specification /Essential Requirements: 

•    Proven selling experience with visible results

•    Knowledge and experience of construction sector

•    Knowledge of fire stopping and intumescent paint (preferable)  

•    Excellent manner and an ability to build rapport quickly 

•    Good communication skills, with the ability to relay information at all levels within the organisation

•    Self-driven, proactive attitude and highly motivated to achieve results

•    Ability to learn new ideas/products and implement quickly

•    Ability to work with other team members to grow the business

•    Support the increasing competency of our solutions via other sales teams

•    Ability to proactively drive the working relationship with internal and external team members
