Brief Outline

Our industry leading client in the local authority refurbishment, repairs, maintenance and fire protection sector, is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial aspects of varied contracts. Types of projects dealt with include; Social housing, Education, Healthcare, Governmental buildings, amongst other areas.

Our client has been established for over 20 years and has positioned themselves as a market leader in the refurbishment and FRA sector throughout the Yorkshire, North West and the Midlands . 

About the Role

    • Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will actively be involved with the pre contracts stage through to final accounts, with the ability to have impact on profitability and commercial success

    • Support operational colleagues on commercial matters, 

    • Agreeing cost estimates with clients, 

    • Compiling payment applications and tracking progress against forecasts and budgets.

    • Dealing with enquiries from various clients

About the Candidate

    • Preferably possess a degree, be HNC or HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

    • Proven experience in a similar commercial or quantity surveying role

    • Have a proven ability to minimize cost and maximize value, profit, and cash flow

    • Possess strong IT and Microsoft Excel skills

    • A clean full driving license

    • Understanding of key contract terms including the JCT and NEC Form of Contract

    • Be analytically minded, organized, and honest as well as be a genuine ‘people person’ who relishes communicating effectively with their clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues
