About the Role:

The Senior Estimator will:

  • Lead the estimation process for timber engineering projects, providing guidance and oversight to the estimating team.
  • Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
  • Direct the preparation of detailed bids and proposals, incorporating value engineering principles and cost-saving strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to negotiate competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications, identifying potential risks and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and manage project budgets, providing expertise in cost control and forecasting.
  • Mentor junior estimators, providing training and guidance to support their professional development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department, implementing best practices and leveraging new technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

About the Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Significant experience in construction estimating, with a focus on timber engineering projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in estimating software and strong mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex estimating projects from concept to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
