About the Role

  • Estimating all main projects and contracts and agreeing all aspects of cost to sales (projected profit – EPP sheet) with MD prior to issuing to contracts managers. Closely monitoring costs and managers’ commercial performance throughout every contract programme.
  • Identify and maximise profit with MD on EPP sheet via competitive post-estimate pricing for all sections
  • Set target profit margins with contract managers
  • Monitor costs for contract life cycle
  • Promote variations and set procedures for managers to detail for costing
  • Submit valuations and final accounts.
  • Work closely with MD to develop and manage the company electrical estimating and be able to achieve and develop successful commercial procedures, profit, and performance via production of EPP cost reports, Valuation Meetings and Quartile profit figures.
  • Achieve quartile pre-determined profit levels for the electrical department.
  • Maximising profit on all projects and develop best profit options for managers.
  • Monitor performance to ensure client satisfaction, reliability, and good communication. Regularly meet and speak with clients to gauge performance feedback, ensuring tasks are completed; emails and phone calls are responded to and advise MD of any underperformance.
  • Develop existing sub-contractor supply chain for profitability, performance, compliancy with QA and form of contract.
  • Carefully review successful tenders to ensure financially accurate, contract qualifications have been covered/ qualified out and assess any design risk for discussion. Investigate all nominated sub-contractor and capital plant costs with purchase manager and MD.
  • Ensure sub-contractors have back-to-back contract and receive full contractual package, including contract, drawings, program, subcontract agreement, ensuring they produce all necessary H&S documentation prior to starting. NB company procedures will need reviewing.
  • Attend regular valuation meetings with Directors to review EPP, monthly submission and variations. (to be explained as part of induction).
  • Hold regular commercial reviews to determine managers’ performance with MD/Directors.
  • Have the ability and leadership skills to advise managers and engineers to increase profit levels.

About the Candidate

  • A history of industry standard training, quality employment and proven record of completed contracts are essential.
  • High level electrical technical knowledge and experience in all areas of mechanical engineering and to be able to fully engage with managers and professional clients.
  • Generally, experienced with IT usage inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, MS project and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Estimating Software
  • Self-motivated
  • Attention to detail.
  • Extensive understanding of industry standard Health and Safety Law and Quality Assurance.
  • Excellent client PR skills.
  • Professional organisation of engineers and subcontractors.
