Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer

About the role:

Our client is a well-established and growing temporary works engineering consultancy. They have several offices across the UK and provide solutions to national and international clients.

Solutions they provided include; designs for hoardings, site set-up, propping and shoring, crane, hoist pads, pile mat designs, excavations, falsework, formwork and retention, demolition temporary works, scaffolding and mechanical access, amongst other related areas.

They are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with specific experience in the construction temporary works field. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, as part of an ambitious and friendly team. You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the further growth of the business, providing the opportunity for promotion based on ability and merit.

The package includes a salary to mirror experience with annual salary reviews as part of the appraisal process and monthly one to ones to track progress and targets. The role will be based out of the West Midlands office, with a hybrid remote working set up. Working times can be flexible around employees home lives.

Responsibilities:

Design engineering solutions for a range of standard, complex and bespoke projects
Provide support to our engineering teams nationwide with design, design checking and draughting
Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations and reports
Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments
Consideration of buildability and sequencing
Site visits and client meetings
Maintenance of project documentation records
Liaising with clients to understand their specific requirements
Building lasting relationships with clients based on understanding and service
Work individually on smaller projects, or as part of a team on larger more complex projects
Handle multiple projects at any one time
The Candidate

Ability and drive to progress to a more senior management level role
Strong background and proven track record in temporary works design for large scale projects
Effective and consistent communication
Skills & Experience

Knowledge of relevant British Standards and specialist documentation in temporary works
IT literate
Ability to use drawing software such as AutoCAD
Experience using 3D/2D structural analysis programmes
Either already achieved or aiming towards becoming a Chartered Engineer

We are currently dealing with an exciting opportunity for a market leading client of ours, who are looking for a Scaffolding Design Engineer to work out of their Glasgow office, with flexible working conditions. They are looking at candidates with relevant scaffolding and temporary works design experience for sizeable project in the variety of sectors they cover.
Wider knowledge of access and temporary works would be a bonus, whilst strong knowledge of AutoCAD, UK regulations and codes of practice are required.

Required Skills

Relevant experience of construction design that includes scaffolding and temporary works with AutoCAD skills are essential, as well as good general IT skills. You must also be able to work under pressure, meet targets and work to deadlines is essential.
