Overview
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in civils, remediation, groundworks, and S278 works, ideally from a specialist subcontractor background. The role involves full commercial management of projects, ensuring contractual compliance, cost control, and maximising project value from tender handover through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and third parties on commercial matters, including variations, claims, and additional works.
- Conduct site visits to measure and value completed work.
- Ensure accurate cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.
- Maintain cash flow forecasts and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Oversee cost management and forecasting throughout project lifecycles.
- Prepare and update CVRs, cost plans, and commercial strategies, working closely with project teams.
- Coordinate with the construction team to finalise and certify works, ensuring accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Assess and process subcontractor payments in line with contract terms.
- Monitor and manage weekly labour hours, material usage, and progress tracking.
- Identify, assess, and negotiate variations in project scope, ensuring value for money.
- Manage contractual notifications, ensuring all changes and claims are properly documented.
- Drive positive cash flow, ensuring timely payments from clients.
- Maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners and manage subcontractor engagement.
- Monitor material and plant expenditure, minimising waste and improving cost efficiencies.
- Foster and maintain good client relationships, promoting the company at all times.
Requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong experience in civils, groundworks, remediation, and S278 works.
- Familiarity with various contract forms and current construction law.
- Proven track record in monthly reporting, cost control, and earned value analysis.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong commercial acumen.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Full UK driving licence required.
