Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Designer to join our growing technical team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in roofing and cladding design, excellent knowledge of industry materials and systems, and a proactive approach to managing complex detailing packages from concept to fabrication and installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and detailing of roofing and cladding packages from tender through to construction stage.

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including general arrangements, fabrication details, and interface drawings.

• Liaise with architects, consultants, and main contractors to coordinate design intent and resolve technical challenges.

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, building regulations, and industry standards (BS, EN, CWCT, NHBC).

• Conduct site surveys and attend coordination meetings as required.

• Review subcontractor drawings and support QA processes across technical submissions.

• Oversee junior designers or external detailing teams, reviewing their work and mentoring where necessary.

• Collaborate with the commercial and contracts teams to support procurement and construction planning.

• Assist with producing O&M manuals and as-built documentation upon project handover.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in façade, roofing, or cladding design.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).

• Strong understanding of cladding systems (e.g., rainscreen, ACM, standing seam, single ply, zinc/copper/steel façades).

• Able to interpret architectural and structural drawings and translate them into coordinated design packages.

• Familiarity with CWCT guidelines, NHBC standards, and other applicable building codes.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with clients, site teams, and subcontractors.

• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering practical, buildable solutions.

Desirable Qualifications

• HNC/HND or degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

• CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain).

• Previous experience working with BIM models and clash detection.

• Knowledge of sustainability principles related to envelope design (e.g., U-values, airtightness).
