Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in water infrastructure projects within a specialist subcontracting environment. The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, ensuring timely completion, budget control, quality assurance, and health & safety compliance while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee specialist water-related projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Manage site operations daily, supervising labour, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, and ensuring quality control.
- Implement and monitor Health & Safety procedures, including RAMS, ensuring compliance with site regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses from relevant authorities.
- Develop and maintain detailed work schedules to meet project deadlines.
- Ensure effective cost management, preventing budget overruns.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing progress updates and attending meetings.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships, ensuring professional representation of the company.
- Determine and allocate resources (labour, equipment, and materials) while considering budget constraints.
- Plan all construction activities and schedule intermediate phases to meet project timelines.
- Monitor and manage site personnel performance, providing direction and feedback as needed.
- Oversee hiring and management of subcontractors, ensuring responsibilities are allocated effectively.
- Supervise the work of subcontractors and site operatives, ensuring timesheet accuracy.
- Identify training needs for team members and support their professional development.
- Manage material procurement and reconciliation to ensure smooth project execution.
- Evaluate project progress and prepare detailed reports for senior management.
- Conduct quarterly 1:1 reviews with engineers, site managers, and foremen.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within the water sector, specifically with specialist subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles.
- Familiarity with construction programming and planning software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Highly organised with effective time management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
