RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing all aspects of the estimating process at a commercial level, dealing with both the internal team and the client.
  • Produce the highest quality estimates using Trimble estimating software.
  • Accurately measure material and quantities from drawings in accordance with the specifications.
  • Identifying appropriate suppliers and subcontractors from the company’s supplier database or the client’s preferred supplier list.
  • Generating enquiries, obtaining, and analysing quotes for tender requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Collating detailed price lists and bills of quantities of everything needed on each project to help inform the tender bid submission.
  • Monitor, report, and follow up on estimates submitted using an internal tracker.
  • Carry out site surveys and attend various meetings. These may be on Teams or in person.
  • Carry out project handover to the project team on successful tenders.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s latest policies and staying up to date with any changes to company procedures.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills are required as it is vital that you can communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and clients.
  • A hard-working individual with a high level of IT literacy with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Impeccable timekeeping and organisational skills are a must and require both analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of mechanical systems and their installation methods is a must.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must have experience as a Mechanical Building Services Estimator on large-scale new build and refurbishment commercial projects.
  • Experience in Trimble estimating software is desirable.
  • HNC in Building Services desirable but not essential.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team is required.
  • Excellent people management skills and the ability to motivate others around them.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise, and multitask to ensure that timescales are met through effective planning.
  • Candidates must hold a full UK driving license.

TYPICAL WORKING WEEK

  • The contract would be based on 40 hours per week, 8AM to 5PM Monday to Thursday, and 8AM to 4PM Friday, based at our Talbot Green office.

SALARY

  • £40,000 – £55,000 per year depending on experience. Salary to be confirmed based on qualifications and experience.
