Senior Estimator – Groundworks & Civil Engineering
Location: Office-Based (South Coast, Hampshire)
Salary: Up to £90,000 + Full Benefits Package

Are you a commercially astute Estimator with deep expertise in residential groundworks? This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor, taking the commercial lead on major residential infrastructure schemes across the South.

Role Overview
As Senior Estimator, you will lead the production of accurate, competitive tenders for large-scale residential groundworks packages. Working closely with pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams, you’ll play a key role in securing new business and shaping the commercial future of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential groundworks and infrastructure projects

• Interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accurate pricing

• Lead tender submissions and coordinate input from other departments as needed

• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather and verify cost information

• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings, providing clear insight and strategy

• Support the handover process to project delivery teams

• Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitor activity to inform tender strategy

What We’re Looking For
Essential:

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator in groundworks or civil engineering

• Strong understanding of residential infrastructure packages (roads, sewers, foundations)

• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness

• Proficient in estimating software and MS Office

• Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

• Background working with major housebuilders or volume residential contractors

• Strong negotiation and communication skills

• HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
