We’re looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client’s team, playing a key role in designing and delivering electrical solutions for the water industry. About the Client

Our client is a well-established engineering design consultancy specializing in the UK rail and utilities industries. With a growing portfolio of projects, particularly in the water sector, they offer a dynamic and supportive work environment focused on innovation and employee well-being.

Roles/Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality electrical design deliverables ensuring safety and compliance.
• Develop design calculations and drawings for water industry projects.
• Lead and mentor junior designers, CAD technicians, and graduates.
• Oversee and review work from subcontract M&E design teams.
• Collaborate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
• Prepare design investigations, reports, and technical specifications.
• Ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
• Manage project changes and maintain accurate design records.
• Estimate design package hours and ensure timely delivery.
• Represent the company at meetings and design presentations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the water industry.
• Significant experience in low-voltage (LV) design.
• Awareness of mechanical and control systems.
• Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering.
• IT proficiency and experience with engineering drawing practices.
• Professional body registration and working towards Chartership.

Preferred:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification.
• Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and control engineering.
• Exposure to high-voltage (HV), ICA, and LVA designs.
• Familiarity with wastewater and clean water projects.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and standards.

• Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
• Results-focused with a keen eye for detail and compliance.

Benefits & Details

• Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per year (permanent) OR £400 – £500 per day (contract, outside IR35).
• Location: Full-time office-based role in Manchester.
• Initial Projects: Various wastewater projects, including pumped storage solutions, odour control units, and rerouting return flows.
