Overview

A leading distributor of specialist pipework systems is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales across key sectors including water treatment, chemical processing, and fire protection. This is a technical sales role focused on growing revenue through distribution channels, M&E contractors, installation partners, end users and key project partners.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in selling pipes, fittings, and valves, with solid experience operating in a distribution-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across defined regions and sectors

  • Manage and grow relationships with distributors, contractors, installation partners and end users

  • Provide technical support and product recommendations for project-based sales

  • Promote the company’s full range of thermoplastic pipes, fittings, valves, and flow control solutions or specific product lines (depending on location)

  • Track and report on pipeline activity using CRM tools, ensuring accurate forecasting

  • Collaborate with internal teams including logistics, technical, and procurement to ensure seamless project delivery

  • Represent the business at site visits, client meetings, and relevant industry events

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years’ sales experience within a distribution environment, ideally in technical construction products

  • In-depth product knowledge across pipes, fittings, valves, ideally thermoplastics

  • Strong background selling into water treatment, chemical, or fire protection sectors

  • Ability to manage a complex sales cycle, from specification through to supply

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and confident dealing with technical stakeholders

  • Comfortable with regular travel and able to manage time effectively across a regional or national territory
